MENSTRUAL CRAMPS (PERIOD PAIN)
Menstrual pain can also be referred to as Dysmenorrheal or period pain; it is a sensation normally felt in the lower part of the abdomen and can occur before and during a woman’s menstrual period. There are two types of menstrual cramps: · Primary menstrual pain: this is the most common type of menstrual pain and it is characterized by pain in the lower abdomen and lower back pain. It can last for about 2-4 days before and during menstruation. There is no underlining problem that causes the pain. · Secondary menstrual pain: These pains are caused by identifiable medical conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease.
